Family Promise of Brevard
Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.
What Family Promise Does and How We Partner with Them in Serving Families Transitioning Out of Homelessness
Family Promise of Brevard has three programs that work together in a holistic, integrated approach. Their goal is to provide homeless prevention, emergency shelter, and aftercare services for all homeless families in Brevard County. The purpose of growing into these three programs is to transform our county’s homeless service system into one that equips homeless families with all the necessary resources and education to maintain permanent housing. After graduating from their program, 88% of families maintain housing. Family Promise’s unique approach allows them to be with families every step of the way and help them get back on their feet and stay there forever!
Trinity Wellsprings is one of many local community churches who serve as host facilities for families in the program. Normally, we open our campus to these families and provide food, shelter and moral support for two weeks out of the year. This year, however, because of Covid-19, the families are being sheltered at Melbourne All Suites Inn instead of the church. But we are asked to provide the families with food and deliver it to the motel.
Families or Life Groups may sign up to provide a fully cooked evening meal one night of the host week and possibly deliver it to the motel. Food may be home made, store bought or delivered from a restaurant between 5 and 6:00 pm. Meals should be packaged separately for each family in non-returnable containers. The rooms have a small fridge and a microwave to reheat food.
Sign up to donate lunch food, snacks, desserts, and beverages. These must be brought to the kitchen in the fellowship hall prior to 11 am, labeled for Family Promise.
Drivers are needed to deliver dinner meals to the motel office where there will be carts identified for each family. Hotel staff will deliver the food to the families.
Dinner chefs may sign up if they can deliver, too. We will help coordinate/connect volunteers as needed.
Prayer and Support
During the week, we need all Trinity covenant partners to keep these families in your prayers and ask God to help them find stable housing.
