Mentorship: One-to-One Discipleship

What is it: One to one discipleship is an opportunity available to anyone who is interested in going deeper in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Initially, the opportunity will be primarily with the pastors at Trinity Wells Springs Church, and could use a number of different curricula as the basis for discipleship meetings. Pastors and participants would identify a set rhythm for meeting for about an hour to an hour and a half over an agreed upon timeframe to go through the curriculum that that they choose along with other aspects of discipleship. One of the stated in goals of one-to-one discipleship and mentorship is that the person participating would also come to a place where they could lead others in a similar type of mentorship or discipleship. (This is not a requirement, however, to start with one-to-one discipleship).

Resources: some of the resources for one-to-one discipleship include Operation Timothy offered by Christian Business Men's Connection, reading through the Gospel of John together with other study notes, the Navigators Discipleship Curriculum, or another resource mutually agreed upon by the pastor and the person wishing to participate in one-to-one discipleship.

Vision: We believe that participating with God in life change with other people, by coming alongside them in their faith journey, is invigorating and inspiring to our own faith and essential for the maturing of the body of Christ in a local church. Therefore, it is the objective of the center for one to one discipleship to raise up men and women who can disciple others and to build a culture of disciple-making in our church, where people are actively open to, and engaging with others to find new mentorship and discipleship relationships in which to mutually grow their faith and seek the Lord together. Our hope is that within the next few years, we will have a number of disciples at the ready to enter into discipleship relationships with new people to walk alongside in their journey and many more that are hungry for just such a type of relationship. We envision that these pairings will be primarily relational, that the love of Christ will flow in these new friendships and relationships that form in our church, and that the task of discipleship will not be merely rational sharing of information, but will in fact be the sharing of our lives, one to another for the sake of the gospel in the name of Jesus Christ. We aim to be an incarnational disciple making ministry in our community and in our church, exalting the name of Jesus Christ, and leading others into a deepening relationship with the Lord Jesus through personal discipleship relationships.
